How to Choose the Right Lawnmower

You might look at a lawnmower and find it nice at the first instant but that doesn’t mean you should buy the first lawnmower that you come across.

You need to weigh the various pros and cons of a lawnmower before you select one for yourself. There are a lot of factors to take in before you fix one model for yourself.

Factors that you need to consider before buying a lawnmower:

1. Type of Lawn

One of the most important things to consider before you decide on your budget, brand and other stuff is the type of lawn that you possess. If your lawn is small or big, if it has hills and fences or if it is evened out and clear, all of these are deciding factors when buying a lawnmower. The geography of your lawn is one of the most important to consider when choosing the right lawn mower for yourself.

2. Type of Mower

The next thing to consider would be the type of mower that you would like to buy for your lawn. There are mainly three types of mowers: walk-behind mower, riding mowers, and tow-behind mowers.

A walk-behind mower is good for a smaller and average sized lawn and provides you with an eco-friendly and comfortable way to mow your lawn. They are available in many varieties like a reel, electric, cordless, or gas-powered.

If you are more of a lazy sort, then the perfect lawn mower for you would be the riding lawnmower as it allows you to sit on it and mow a great area of the lawn at a time. In this type of mower, you will find varieties like rear engine riders, lawn tractors, garden tractors, and zero-turn mowers.

One of the best mowers to cover a large area in a shorter time is the tow-behind mower which can help in mowing your golf course or handling the overgrown field. It includes varieties like gang reel mowers, train mowers, and trail cutters.

3. Gas or Electric

Another important factor to consider is whether you want to go for a gas mower or electric mower. A gas mower will provide you a longer runtime and more power than an electric one but will require more maintenance.

On the other hand, an electric mower can come in both corded and cordless version and will be easier to use.

If you use a cordless lawn mower (if you don’t make sure you read a lot of reviews first), you would need to ensure you have two batteries so that your mower won’t stop in between but if you have a corded mower, you will need to take care of the cord length.

4. Push or Self-propelled

This is yet another feature that you will need to consider when buying a lawn mower for yourself. You could either go for a push mower which as the name suggests would require you to push it around the lawn for it to work properly, else you can consider a self-propelled mower.

Push or Self-propelled

A self-propelled mower will do the work itself without you needing to push it around and will do the job quickly and efficiently. You would need to choose between two-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive. An all-wheel-drive mower is easier to use in the inclines but is heavier and little difficult to handle.…

In a medium bowl, combine the salt, sugar, fennel seeds, chile flakes, and nutmeg. Rub the raw garlic halves over the pork and discard. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the pork to coat well. Transfer to a large sealable bag to marinate in the refrigerator overnight or up to 24 hours. An hour before roasting, remove the pork belly from the refrigerator to bring up to room temperature.

Preheat the oven to 275°F. Place the belly in a shallow roasting pan, meat-side down, and brush the top with the molasses. Place a piece of parchment paper over the meat and cover the pan tightly with foil. Roast until fork-tender, about 3 hours.

Heat a panini grill or large cast-iron skillet until hot. Using a sharp knife, cut the pork crosswise into six 1⁄4-inch-thick slices, then cut each slice in half, reserving the remaining pork belly for another use.

Open the buns and spread about 1-1⁄2 tsp. mayonnaise and 1 tsp. mustard over each half. Drizzle with a few dashes of hot sauce and sprinkle with salt. On each bottom half, layer slices of cheese, ham, pork belly, and pickles. Cover with the tops and brush the outside of each bun with melted butter.

In batches, place the filled buns on the panini grill, pressing down to flatten them slightly. If using a cast-iron skillet, put another heavy skillet or weight on top to flatten them and turn them over after 2 or 3 minutes. Grill until golden brown. Serve immediately.

Developing Healthy Eating Habits Amongst Kids

It is quite natural for any child to dislike new kind of food right away. It may take 10 or more tries getting a child to accept a new food. It is essential for parents to behave patiently if you want your child to eat right and healthy. For overall growth and development, parents should offer kids foods from each of the food group.

Some ways to develop your child’s healthy approach towards eating

– Cut down on the amount of fat in your family’s diet. Include low-fat dairy products, lean meat, fat-free cereals or bread.

– Avoid restricting sweets or desserts. Fat, salt, sugar have a moderate place in our diet. Don’t curb them completely. Just teach your child to take small portions of it.

– Make or keep a wide variety of healthy foods ready at home to be eaten as snacks. Do allow occasional indulgence of chips, colas, and cookies.

– Eating slowly helps to detect hunger and fullness better. Encourage your child to eat slowly.

– Eating meals together with family helps children. Meal time with family can be pleasant with free flowing, light-hearted conversations about the day, etc.

– Activities like shopping for food and preparing meals are a fun time for children. Both parents and children learn about each other’s food preferences and enjoy the time spent together.

– Eating meals and watching TV at the same time makes it difficult to pay attention to the hunger and may lead to overeating.

– Sending children to bed without eating food may give them the impression that they will have to go hungry. So they may try to eat whenever they get a chance. Avoid using food as punishment.

– If your kid is having lunch at school, find out more about the lunch program. If you pack your child’s food include a variety of foods. While dining out, pick healthier items.

– If you as parents eat healthy nutritious food, your child tends to learn and pick up similar eating habits. Set a good example by eating a variety of nutritious foods and snacks. Teaching your child healthy eating practices early in life will help develop an approach to eating food with right attitude.…
